Hendy-Bendy--Week 41

Hola Todos!
We've had a good day, with transfers around the corner we know Elder Smiths headed out, so we had a killer pday today! Another nerf war with the President's sons and then another barbecue asado fest. This time we had the Isaacsons eat with us, what a blast! I did lose a game of chess to Elder Isaacson tho. I thought I had the game but confidence kills the cat.
Well this week we took a hit in the area. The one couple I mentioned a while ago, Yanni and Lucas? They got back together some weeks ago after Lucas said he wanted to change. Everything was going well until this week. Something happened and Lucas disappeared into the streets again looking for and buying more drugs. Passing by their house on Thursday night we found Lucas outside the house. We asked him how he was, giggling and high he responded
"I'm lost! Lost in the drugs again!"
Shortly after, he tried to break into his moms house. The mom, not knowing it was him (he had disappeared for several days), opened the door to see who was banging on the house! She was not happy to see Lucas but before she could close the door, Lucas yelled at her, barged in, and ended up stealing a bunch of her things to trade on the street for more drugs.
Not only that, one of our star amigos left his wife and kid for another woman this week. We've been teaching him for a month now and have been pushing for a baptismal date. Juan always listens and engages with our lessons and loves to have us over to teach him. Out of the blue, he stopped responding to our texts and our calls. When we passed by his house this week, his lonely wife and 11 year old son let us know what had happened. Turns out it's not the first time this has happened... Just the first time in a few years. She's particularly discouraged this time, he just upped and left.
We dont know if he's coming back.

But taking hits from satan doesnt mean we cant throw some too! We threw hands and found 3 new people in ONE night this week! Plus, when we taught them they were engaged the WHOLE TIME. It was crazy.
In our area, finding people to teach is really hard. It's not uncommon for us to work our pants off for an entire week and not find anyone. Walking the streets everyones locked up in the gated houses so we dont see a lot of people most days. For us, finding 3 people in one night is a real sucker punch to Satan's kidney.
We'll keep teaching and trusting in the Lord that there ain't a satan sucker punch waiting for us around the next corner. But hey, what's the Work of the Lord without a little bit of suffering!
